Cumbria Constabulary highlights Violence Against Women & Girls

Cumbria Constabulary is running an initiative to “flood” rural and isolated Cumbria with information on; how to report domestic abuse, and importantly how to access support services.

It has been highlighted both nationally and here in Cumbria there is an issue of under-reporting of Violence Against Women & Girls and Domestic Abuse offences. Many of the barriers that exist as to why there is under-reporting are already known. This initiative is simply seeking to provide victims and those (friends) who may be able to assist victims with the information they need, to take the first steps to reporting offences, or seeking help if they are not yet ready to report offences.
