Gosforth Parish Council has limited responsibilities, however the Parish Council represents you as residents of the Parish. Monthly meetings (except August) take place at the Library on the second Wednesday of the month at 6.30pm. The Annual Meeting and AGM takes place in May at 7pm. Gosforth Parish Council maintains some of the green spaces in the village, whilst Cumberland are responsible for others. The Car Park and Public Toilets are owned by Cumberland Council and managed by Gosforth Parish Council. Other areas covered by the Parish Council are as follows:

  • public hall
  • play areas and play equipment
  • grants to help local organisations
  • consultation on neighbourhood planning
  • consultation on planning applications within the Parish

Cumbria has a unitary authority which is Cumberland Council as well as Parish Councils and the Lake District National Park Authority which is responsible for planning applications within the National Park. This page is designed to help you understand what the councils are responsible for.
