The Parish Council receives, for consultation, planning applications from Copeland Borough Council and the Lake District National Park Authority. The adopted policy on responding to planning applications includes a commitment to communicate with the residents of neighbouring properties to seek their views. This is part of the process for forming the Council’s final opinion and response to the planning authority. Letters to neighbouring properties are hand-delivered and stipulate the deadline for responses, either to the Parish Council or direct to the planning authority.
All LDNPA applications are available to view on their online portal by entering the planning application number in the search box. Copeland BC are currently moving over to online planning applications however, occasionally larger applications may be received on disk.
Gosforth Parish Council monitor the planning applications for Sellafield and receive a monthly list of upcoming applications for discussion and comment.
